Basic values as predictors of leisure-time activities among adolescents

The main goal of the study is to analyse a rarely investigated relationship between leisure-time activities and Schwartz’s 10 basic values in adolescents. sample included 1,349 Serbian high-school students (44% boys; 62% vocational schools). questionnaire consisted groups items related hobbies, sports, following different themes/shows media (TV, Internet, magazines), listening music, going out, attending cultural sports events, on Internet social networking sites usage. Values (Self-direction, Stimulation, Hedonism, Achievement, Power, Security, Conformity, Tradition, Benevolence Universalism) were examined by PVQ21 questionnaire. Factor analysis yielded seven factors leisure (45.96% explained variance), defined contents: pop culture; culture & arts; movies, TV shows internet; science politics; IT; out; sports. Correlation showed that assessment was significantly distinctive sets values, which additionally confirmed multiple regression including as predictors demographic variables controls. conclusion research are important motivators during free time mostly expressed through activities, but also can be motivated same values.
